Tributes pour in for Annisul Huq

Tributes as well as condolence messages still pour in for Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Annisul Huq, who breathed his last at a London hospital around 4.23 pm (London time) Thursday.
The mayor, 65, died in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Wellington Hospital around 10:23pm Bangladesh time.According to his family members, the doctors of the London hospital removed the ventilation apparatus from his mouth around 4:23pm in London time, declaring him dead.President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday night expressed shock at the death of Dhaka North City Corporation’s (DNCC) first Mayor Annisul Huq.In separate messages, the President and the Prime Minister recalled Annisul Huq’s contributions to the development of Dhaka North City Corporation area.People from every sphere of life are expressing shock at the death of once famous TV personality and business icon Annisul Huq. Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, the speaker of National Parliament expressed deep shock in a message at the death of Annisul Huq. She recalled Huq’s contributions, saying he was a famous and successful businessman, industrialist and contemporary person. The speaker stated “He had much attention towards development of Dhaka North City Corporation and people living in the area.”Deputy leader of the House Syed Sazeda Chowdhury, leader of the opposition Rawshan Ershad, LGRD and Co-operatives Minister Engineer Khandker Mosharraf Hossain, Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid, Law Minister Anisul Huq, Land Minister Shamsur Rahman Sherif, state minister for land Saifuzzaman Chowdhury, all expressed deep shock at the death of Annisul Huq in seperate messages. They prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed profound sympathy to the bereaved family. Family sources of deceased Mayor Annisul Huq said a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight will carry his body back home on Saturday.The flight is scheduled to land in Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 11:20am. From the airport, his body will be taken to his home. He will be buried at the Banani graveyard following another namaz-e-janaza at the Army Stadium after Asr prayers. His first namaz-e-janaza would be held at London’s Regent Park Mosque after the Jumma prayers on Friday.
